UNIVERSITY OF IDAHO HALL OF FAME

Mary Raese was one of the key members of the two best women’s basketball teams in Vandal history. A three-time Mountain West Athletic All-Conference honoree, she led the Vandal women to the 1984-85 MWAC title, as well as the team’s first appearance at the NCAA tournament, and in 1985-86, Mary led the team to the Women’s NIT title while earning District VII All-America honors. Raese’s 639 points scored in 1985-86 was a school record that lasted nearly 20 years. She was one of the best shooters ever at Idaho with a career 61.2 percent field goal average as well as the top two single season shooting percentages in Vandal history. While her offense was great, her defense may have been greater. Mary's career total of 306 blocked shots is 116 more than the second-best total. Her 97 blocks in 1984-85 is a single-season school record, and her 86 in 1983-84 is the second best total. Raese finished her four-year career with five school records and top-five marks in 17 statistical categories.
