Heid completed a superb college career at Gonzaga University by being named as the West Coast Conference's Most Valuable Player as well as a unanimous all-league centerfielder. Drafted in the 9th round by the Angels, he was assigned to the Orem Owlz in the Pioneer League. Drew was outstanding as a first year professional and led the Pioneer League with 102 hits while batting .362 in 68 games. In 2011, he was assigned by the Angels to play for the Cedar Rapids Kernals in the Midwest League.
