Burdette Sterling came to the College of Puget Sound after proving himself as an outstanding athlete and leader at Wenatchee High School. Burdette earned the duty as the starting single-wing quarterback for the Loggers' football team from 1930-34. He was considered to be among the best players in the Northwest as both a passer and ball carrier during his time while earning two All-Northwest Conference berths. Burdette possessed seemingly effortless ability seen in superior athletes while invariably accomplishing goals that were set out to achieve. He was considered to be the epitome of a gridiron field general for the Loggers.
