Bruce Campbell
COACH 1977-95 Track, Cross-country and Tennis; ATHLETIC DIRECTOR 1996-03
Bruce, with a smile and a twinkle in his eyes, had a knack for getting athletes to believe, then achieve their way to state meets. In all, he guided 105 Panthers to state meet or tournament berths. No one at Wenatchee High coached athletes of both genders, in more competitive disciplines. His teams compiled a combined 235-160-3 record.

Following an outstanding career competing for the Central Washington University swimming team, Bruce became the aquatics director for the Wenatchee School Disitrict in 1973. He coached the girls track team to two Big 9 titles and a district championship from 1983-95, and the boys squad to a district crown from 1991-95. Bruce guided the boys and girls cross-country teams from 1979-85 and again from 1987-88. As boys and girls tennis coach from 1977-82, the '78 boys squad placed third in the state. His boys teams won a district title in 1980 and were district runnerups five times.

Bruce, who gave a lot of credit to his assistant coaches, was named "Big 9 Coach of the Year" for girls track in 1987 and 1995. He left coaching to take over the athletic directorship in 1996. Bruce excelled in that capacity until 2003, ushering Panther athletics into the 21st century.
