Cal Chandler
CLASS of 1959 Football, Basketball and Baseball ATHLETE
Known as a "clutch" performer in athletic competition, Cal was a playmaker in pressure situations. An "All-State" gridder, the 190-pounder was a dominating defensive end with exceptional power and also used his speed and drive at offensive end and halfback for the state championship 1958 Panther squad. He set the Wenatchee High record with a 98-yard kickoff return and led the team with seven touchdowns as a senior. During two seasons as a starter in football, the team lost only one game.

Cal was also a 6'2" starting forward for the 1959 state tournament basketball squad who was especially adept at rebounding. As a senior, he made game tying and winning free throws with three seconds on the clock to beat Moses Lake and earn a trip to the state tournament. Cal was also a mainstay in the outfield for highly successful baseball teams for two years including the 1959 contingent that compiled a 17-0 record.

In all, he earned six varsity letters and went on to play football at the University of Washington.
