Hackers double whammy to guzzle back-to-back from winners trough
The Hackers are turning the 28th WooGA Tour into a one horse pony and dog show after posting a second consecutive triumph, this time a double whammy at the Honda Classic. Although Jim Haglund has worn 47 WGA crowns, this is the first time he's slurped from the Honda winners trough. Luckily for the rest of the WooGA, the Hackers only had a t rio at the top among WGA roster whackers - Villegas, Vijay Singh (4th) and Nathan Green (9th) - with Vaughn Taylor completing the foursome while lagging his way to the second worst score (290). Although Green came in ninth, his finish was tainted by hacking five over par on the closing par threes - a double at the 69th hole and a triple at the 71st. So, Haglund's eight stroke margin of victory over the second place Jammers could certainly have been substantially greater.
The Strokers mounted an impressive charge over the closing 18 holes to make-up 10 pops on the Hemen and end regulation knotted for third. The tie remained with neither Herring Manhart nor Harry Palmer able to send a stiff to the tee to break the deadlock.
